Emirates launches Premium Economy on Kolkata–Dubai route from 18 July
New cabin includes enhanced seating and upgraded entertainment system
DUBAI: UAE’s flag-carrier Emirates is set to introduce its acclaimed Premium Economy service on flights between Dubai and Kolkata from 18 July 2025.
This move extends the airline’s upgraded service offering in India, which already includes Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad. Kolkata is now the fourth destination in Emirates’ Indian network to receive the elevated travel experience.
Passengers flying on the upgraded EK572/573 route can book Premium Economy seats immediately via the Emirates website, app, retail outlets, contact centre, or travel agents. The service will operate four times weekly – Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. EK572 departs Dubai at 13:05 and lands in Kolkata at 19:15. The return flight, EK573, departs Kolkata at 20:45 and arrives in Dubai at 00:05. All timings are local.
Comfort and convenience
Premium Economy features a refined and spacious cabin with 24 seats on Emirates’ latest Boeing 777 aircraft. Each seat offers cream leather upholstery, deeper recline, extra legroom, cushioned leg rests, and adjustable headrests. The experience is tailored for passengers seeking added comfort and more privacy on long-haul routes.

Entertainment is also upgraded, with each seat offering a 13.3-inch HD personal screen loaded with Emirates’ award-winning ice in-flight entertainment system. Bluetooth connectivity allows travellers to use their own headphones, while improved onboard Wi-Fi ensures better connectivity across select aircraft.
Enhanced dining and baggage
Dining in Premium Economy is a step above, with a curated menu of regional specialities served on Royal Doulton fine china, accompanied by stainless steel cutlery. Passengers can choose from an expanded beverage list, including premium wines and exclusive refreshments.

Baggage allowances are also more generous. Premium Economy travellers are entitled to 35kg of checked-in baggage and an additional 10kg of cabin baggage, offering greater flexibility and convenience.
Commitment to Indian market
Commenting on the launch, Mohammad Sarhan, Emirates’ Vice President – India and Nepal, said: “We are delighted to introduce our highly-acclaimed Premium Economy experience to Kolkata, marking another significant milestone in our commitment to the Indian market. The response to our Premium Economy product in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are confident that travellers in Kolkata will appreciate the blend of comfort, value, and thoughtful touches.”
Emirates currently operates 11 flights per week between Kolkata and Dubai. Alongside the four-times weekly EK572/573 service, the airline continues its daily EK570/571 flights on the same route.
